Take it all in
Seven years ago I walked into my very first class at Central Baptist College, and now I get to watch a new batch of students do the exact same thing. On days like these you can’t help but reflect on your experience, and while it may be different than the students entering CBC today in a lot of ways it has the chance to be the same. At 19, I wasn’t sure of what I wanted to be when I “grew up” as I’m sure most of the incoming freshmen don’t. In some ways at 19 you feel as if you have the world figured out, and it’s not until much later that you realize you don’t know nearly as much as you thought you did.
CBC taught me more than college algebra, comp 2, New Testament, or biology. CBC taught me how to be a better person, how to strive for excellence, and how to love the Lord deeper and more intensely than I ever had before. If you allow her to, CBC can transform your entire life. When I chose to attend CBC, I came here not knowing a single person. When I left CBC 3 years later, I did so with lifelong friendships.
During your first year here be sure to take it all in. You may not know or appreciate it now, but one day you will look back on your time at CBC with so much fondness. If it weren’t for CBC my life would look completely different. This is where God placed me, and this is where He placed you too. He has such big plans for your life, embrace what He’s calling you to become. Allow yourself to fully invest in CBC, because I can promise you that you will be fully invested in while here.
There aren’t many colleges like CBC, in fact there’s no other place like it in the world. You can go to a multitude of places and receive an education, but you won’t find what CBC has to offer anywhere else. They aren’t just preparing us for our future careers, which they do so well, they are preparing us for our future work for the Kingdom. If you allow this place to change you, it will.
